Smart Couples Follow These Budget Friendly Travel Tips

If you're traveling as a couple, you want to make sure you have plenty of money. When you're traveling on a budget, you want to be sure you get the most for your money. The following are some budget friendly travel tips for couples:

1. Make a list of different places that you would like to travel to and do some research to see which location offers the most budget friendly prices. Use the Internet to do your research or speak with a travel agent that is great at sourcing out low cost travel deals. Find prices on transportation (if necessary) and accommodations and compare each location to find the best deal. A great way to save money and travel on a budget is to take a cruise. Think about it. Your meals and onboard entertainment are all included. As long as you don't get carried away in the casino or the gift shops, you will save a lot of money by going on a cruise. Again, it's all about searching for the best deal.

2. Figure out when the off season is for the location you want to visit. The great thing about going to the location when it is the off season is you will save money. The lodging and the attractions are both going to be cheaper in the off season. You may even save money on transportation to the location when there are fewer tourists visiting the destination. If you want to go to Europe, you can save a few hundred dollars per ticket if you go in the winter instead of the summer.

In many cases, summer destinations go to the off season rates during the month of September, which is when children return to school. If you can plan your trip after Labor Day, you can take a much more budget friendly vacation where you spend less and the weather will still be warm enough to enjoy the trip. Also, it will be less crowded.

3. Prior to your trip, work on saving money on your own and together. Make it a challenge between the two of you to see who can save the most money for your budget friendly vacation.

4. Consider a hotel that offers free breakfast. Many hotels offer continental breakfasts to guests. Depending on where you are traveling to, another alternative is to actually stay at a Bed & Breakfast. You will usually find B&B's to be very budget friendly and they typically offer quite a delicious breakfast.

5. Another great way to save money come dinner time is to only order one entree and share it. This works well if you can both agree on the same meal. You can also add a salad or soup. You don't need to do this every day, but this truly is a great way to travel on a budget.

6. Take a couple of water bottles along that you can refill. Many hotel rooms have refrigerators, so look for a local store that sells filtered water by the gallon and use it to refill your water bottle each day. This is a great way to save money because typically hotels sell bottles of water for about $3.75 each, and if you are in a warm climate, you will probably drink a lot of water.

When you plan budget friendly travel together, you will be able to enjoy a lot of great trips as a couple. You can use budget friendly travel tips such as going in the off season, looking for hotels with a free breakfast, splitting a meal, and carrying refillable water bottles with you to save a lot of money.
